Evenweaves

Evenweave fabrics have the same number of threads in both directions of the weave - lengthwise (warp) and cross-wise or selvage to selvage (weft).

For cross-stitch and other counted embroidery techniques, however 'evenweave' is generally accepted as meaning non-Aida fabrics that are made from fibres other than 100% linen.

The fabrics that we therefore categorise as evenweave are non-Aida fabrics made from cotton, cotton/linen blends, or cotton/other fibre (such as rayon) blend.  The result is a fabric that is made with threads of uniform thickness, which results in consistent stitch sizes across the whole piece of work.
