Aida fabrics are woven using paired or grouped threads to give squares that are stitched over, and are made from 100% cotton. They are a great 'starter' fabric for beginner stitchers. The stitch count of Aida refers to the number of squares to the inch.
22 count Aida is traditionally used for Hardanger.
When hand-dyed, Aida tends to be paler in comparison to evenweave, and much paler in comparison to linen fabrics dyed using the same formulation.
