Royalty

In the classical world only those in power could afford the dyes needed to make purple fabric. Rich deep purple - on linen this colour is so deep it's almost blue.

DMC approximation is 550 towards 939 on linen, and close to 552 on evenweaves. Because of the intensity of this colour, it may bleed - if in doubt, pre-wash your fabric before using, and try to avoid washing it after it has been stitched.

This colour works well on all available fabrics, with linen giving the brightest results. Lugana, other evenweaves and Aida give paler (more muted) results.
